The New England Weeds Authority is a sole purpose weeds county council.
The New England Weeds Authority (NEWA) is a weeds county council on the Northern Tablelands of NSW. We are responsible for enforcing the Noxious Weeds Act (1993) across 4 Local Government Areas - Armidale Dumaresq, Uralla, Guyra and Walcha council areas.
NEWA's total area covers some 18000 square kilometres of land and we are responsible for carrying out weed control on 4000 kilometres of roads. We attend field days, Expo's, Landcare events and Shows to promote weed awareness and to educate the public about the negative impacts weeds have on our Communities.
